PREDICTION MODEL FOR BASE SHEAR INCREASE DUE TO VERTICAL GROUND MOTION IN FRICTION PENDULUM ISOLATED STRUCTURES

Seismic isolation is one of the most effective seismic hazard mitigation techniques, which has been implemented in many structures. Friction pendulum isolators are popular devices to achieve energy dissipation and shear resistance that depends on radius instantaneous vertical force them. So, horizontal response this type coupled with axial load them, could change due acceleration during ground shaking. Thus, it makes consideration excitation design analysis phase inevitable, especially for structures those regions where accelerations more pronounced. In study a model prediction increase base motion friction isolated proposed. A simple single isolator system utilized assumption rigid superstructure top subjected hundred earthquake motions different characteristics. multi-layer perceptron three layers utilized, computer program, open-source, prepared construct probability curves. With help within range considered structural parameters study, curves related shear, maximum displacement residual can be constructed, designers have rough estimation modification these motion.
